Ujjain: The idols of Mahakal Lok built in Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, fell down due to strong winds in the last few days. Due to this, 6 statues were badly damaged. At the same time, cracks have occurred in a total of 11 statues. Now the Lokayukta of Madhya Pradesh has taken suo motu cognizance of this matter. An official said that after the Lokayukta's suo motu cognizance, an inquiry has been initiated into the fall and desecration of statues in Mahakal Lok.
The Congress had accused the BJP of corruption after the statues were vandalised. The BJP said the statues were made of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) which collapsed due to strong winds. In such a situation, now Lokayukta Justice NK Gupta has ordered an inquiry into this whole matter. A team of Lokayukta will visit Mahakal Lok. The report will be submitted to the Lokayukta after completion of the inquiry.
The Lokayukta's team will investigate what is the responsibility of the company making the statues. Did the company use poor materials in making the statues? Is there corruption involved? An officer said that the officers involved in this project will also be questioned. That is, officers will also be on the radar in the Lokayukta's investigation.
