France President arrives at Varanasi, CM Yogi Adityanath extends warm welcome

President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is on a tour of India. Today along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will jointly inaugurate Uttar Pradesh's largest solar power plant in the Mirzapur district.

Prime Minister Modi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, extended their warm welcome to France President who arrived by a special plane at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport in Varanasi.

From the airport, both the leaders will fly by helicopter to Mirzapur, where they will jointly inaugurate the 75-megawatt solar plant. They are likely to return to Varanasi, to visit the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul - a trade facilitation centre.

Both the leaders will also visit the Assi ghat, where they will take a boat ride from Assi to Dashashwamedh ghat.

The UN Environment Chief Erik Solheim praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and France President Emmanuel Macron in a tweet for initiating the ISA.

The two leaders will then have a private meeting over lunch, then France President will leave back for New Delhi after lunch. The Prime Minister will also address a public meeting before flying back to Delhi from the Varanasi airport.
