Agra: If you are planning to visit Agra on the weekend, then let us tell you that entry to the Taj Mahal will be free this weekend. Entry to the Taj Mahal in Agra will be free from February 17 to 19 to mark the 368th Urs (death anniversary) of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. On this occasion, tourists will also get to see the tombs of Shahjahan and Mumtaz, which no one is allowed to visit during normal days.

During a discussion with the media, the Chairman of the Urs Committee, Ibrahim Zaidi said that like every year, Shah Jahan's Urs will be organized from February 17 to February 19 this year too. For these three days, the entry of pilgrims and tourists to the Taj Mahal will be free. As per the information received, the ritual of 'Ghusl' (the process of purification of the whole body before the performance of various rituals and prayers) will begin at 2 pm on February 17. At the same time, on February 18, the rituals of 'Sandal' and 'Milad Sharif' will be celebrated. Rituals of 'Kul' (recitation of the four basic chapters of the Quran) and 'Chadar Poshi' (offering the sheet) will be observed from morning till evening on February 19.

This year, on the occasion of Urs, a 1,450-meter-long chadar will be offered to the tomb of Shah Jahan. After that, langar will be distributed on the premises itself. According to social activist Sameer, there will be a huge crowd at the Taj Mahal on the occasion of Urs, so it is necessary to ensure that anti-social elements do not vandalize the monument. Cigarettes, Bidi, Pan-masala, any kind of flag, banner, or poster will not be allowed inside the Taj Mahal. At the same time, it is also forbidden to carry things like books, screwdrivers, lighters, and knives.
