LONDON: Six new players awarded their first England Women's core contracts on Wednesday, including Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Freya Kemp, Emma Lamb, and Issy Wong.
During the recently concluded English summer, Alice, Freya, Lauren, and Issy all had their international debuts, while Charlie and Emma made their debuts for their nation late last year.
To align with professional contracts in the women's regional game, which were bolstered by a 3.5 million pound budget rise last month, England Women's central contracts will run for the first time from November 1.
The addition of six new players, according to Jonathan Finch, director of England Women's Cricket, "provides a new look and feel to the side."
"Congratulations to everyone who has earned a contract; it's wonderful to be able to release the list of centrally contracted England Women's Cricketers for the upcoming year. It's fantastic to add six new players to the list of those who have signed contracts since it gives the team a fresh appearance and feel "Finch stated.
"We believe that this set of players will lay the groundwork for our team and carry us through numerous bilateral series, the Women's Ashes, and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. We have a really exciting cricketing year ahead of us.
We once again extend our gratitude to the PCA and the England Women's Player Partnership for their continuous contributions to the cause of international athletes throughout our ongoing conversations "Added he.
Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Katherine Brunt, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Tash Farrant, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Freya Kemp, Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Nat Sciver, Issy Wong, and Danni Wyatt are among the players with England Women central contracts for the 2022–23 season.
