After this the matter was suppressed, but on December 31, 2021, 6 girl students wearing hijab were barred from entering the class at Government PU College, Udupi, after which demonstrations started outside the college and the matter came into the limelight. This matter had reached the High Court, when the High Court upheld the hijab ban, the girl students reached the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court also upheld the hijab ban in a fragmented judgment and advocated the wearing of uniforms in school-college, but the Muslim side challenged this decision of the Supreme Court and demanded a reconsideration. The matter which is still in court. Although the Congress had favored wearing the hijab, it is now believed that after the formation of the government, the Congress will approve the hijab.
