NEW DELHI: Given that cyclone Mocha is expected to reach landfall, the Indian Meteorological Department has warned against fishing in the northern and central Andaman Sea till Sunday. Those who are already at sea have been urged to return to land.
With a maximum sustained wind speed of 150-160 kmph and gusts as high as 175 kmph, Mocha, a very severe cyclonic storm, is forecast to intensify further and make landfall between Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh and Myanmar around noon on Sunday, said the IMD.
The majority of locations in Tripura and Mizoram are expected to see severe rains throughout the weekend due to the cyclone's influence. On Sunday, numerous locations in Nagaland, Manipur, and south Assam are predicted to experience severe downpours.
Between Sunday and Tuesday, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are expected to get significant amounts of rain, as are Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from Friday to Tuesday.
On Friday, Gujarat, western Rajasthan, and western Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha are anticipated to experience heat waves, which will last through Sunday. According to the weather bureau, a hot wave is anticipated to hit Bihar, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal on Monday and Tuesday, while coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are expected to suffer the same weather from Sunday to Tuesday.
