New Delhi: A big change is going to happen for businessmen on October 1. Businessmen will now have to specify the deadline for the use of the sweets sold in the market. That is, for how long it will be right to use sweets sold at the shops, it will be necessary to inform the consumers about the time limit.

The food regulator has made this rule mandatory. Food regulator FSSAI, as part of its efforts to ensure food safety and has made it mandatory for food business operators to display an appropriate timeframe for use of sweets on October 1. In this context, FSSAI has informed by sending a letter to the Commissioner of Food Safety of all states and union territories.

The letter states that, "In the public interest and to ensure food safety, it has been determined that it will be compulsory on October 1, 2020 onwards, with a tray holding sweets at the outlet for sale in respect of open sweets" 'Best before date' should be displayed. Food business operators can also show date of manufacture as per their wish. The FSSAI also said that expiry date for the use of different sweets have been given on its website in a symbolic way".
