Petrol and diesel prices on July 11 remained unchanged, reflecting the stability seen in oil markets. The public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs), which include Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), adhere to a daily revision of prices at 6 am, aligning with global crude oil prices.
In Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs 96.72 per liter, while diesel is available at Rs 89.62 per litre. Mumbai witnesses petrol at Rs 106.31 per litre and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre.
Kolkata experiences higher petrol prices compared to Delhi, with a rate of Rs 106.31 per liter, while diesel is priced at Rs 92.76 per liter. In Chennai, petrol costs Rs 102.63 per liter, and diesel can be obtained for Rs 94.24 per liter.
Minor fluctuations in prices have been observed in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Goa, Manipur, Telangana, J&K, Karnataka, and Kerala.
Uttar Pradesh witnessed an increase of 57 paise in petrol and 56 paise in diesel. Maharashtra saw petrol becoming costlier by 48 paise and diesel by 46 paise. Telangana, J&K, Karnataka, and Kerala also experienced upward revisions in prices.
Conversely, West Bengal observed a decrease of 46 paise in petrol and 43 paise in diesel. Punjab witnessed a reduction of 12 paise in petrol and 11 paise in diesel. Goa and Manipur also observed a decline in the prices of petrol and diesel.
Despite crude oil reaching a peak of $140 per barrel in March 2022, OMCs refrained from significantly increasing retail prices last year. Offering relief to consumers, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre on May 21, 2022. Since then, prices have experienced minor fluctuations.
