Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, IPICOL and GAIL (India) Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the areas of green hydrogen, green ammonia, and renewable energy (solar/wind) for the production of eco-friendly fuels in Odisha.
According to an official statement, the MoU's scope includes performing a feasibility assessment for the proposed plants, as well as boosting the development of environmentally friendly fuels in Odisha.
Asit Tripathy, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, remarked during the MoU signing event in Bhubaneswar: "The entire globe is attempting to reduce carbon emissions, but big change requires a lot of intention, support, and energy. We are also happy to assist the organisation in finding suitable site and providing robust support."
Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Odisha government's Industries Department, lauded GAIL's active interest in establishing a Green Hydrogen facility. He went on to say that Odisha already has a sizable hydrogen market, and that by working together to create green hydrogen in quantity, the cost of green hydrogen for industrial use will be reduced.
"We are focused on the development of natural gas infrastructure and clean energy projects in Odisha and the rest of the country," said MV Iyer, Director (Business Development). "GAIL is installing natural gas pipelines in Odisha, establishing a CGD project, and establishing a coal gasification facility in a joint venture," Iyer said.
