India's first redeveloped Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station will provide people with an airport-like experience with arrangements like a luxury hotel, special lighting arrangements, a prayer room, and a separate infant feeding room. This was reported by the officers. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the station on Friday.

 

The structure has been constructed with a green building evaluation system and has already received stability standard green certification from the Indian Association of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM).

Sunit Sharma, Chairman of, Same Railway Board said, "The station has been developed like an airport for the satisfaction of the people. We have tried to incorporate all the excellent facilities that people need for a pleasant experience at the railway station." In the project of redevelopment of stations, we are trying to bring new sources of revenue to the Railways as well as new experiences for our people. It is really the 'new station of New India.'

The redevelopment work at Gandhinagar Capital Station started in 2017 with the formation of a joint venture called Gandhinagar Railway and Urban Development (GARUD). Railways said that the station has handicapped-friendly special ticket booking counters, ramps, lifts, parking lots. There is also an art gallery at the station.

At the same time, the redeveloped station has been built to handle 1,500 people in busy hours and with congestion, the capacity will increase to 2,200. Railways said that in the near future, there is a strategy to open retail, food, and entertainment centres in the area for passengers as well as the local population. Big Bazaar and Shoppers Stop have expressed interest in opening their centers at the station.
