In the year 2023, the concluding chapter of Ganesh Chaturthi's profound celebrations is set to unfold on September 28, marking the auspicious day of Ganesh Visarjan, the 10th day. Devotees, filled with devotion, bid a heartfelt farewell to Lord Ganesha, with the earnest aspiration of His return in the following year, as they ceremoniously immerse His sacred idol into the flowing waters.

The grand festival of Ganeshotsav resonates with immense zeal and reverence, reverberating across the diverse landscapes of India. While some adherents choose to conclude the festivities after 1.5, 3, 5, or 7 days, the ultimate day of the festival holds profound significance, as it is believed to symbolize Lord Ganesha's journey back to His celestial abode.

The Rituals of Ganesh Visarjan:

In the gentle embrace of the early morning, a soul-stirring aarti for Lord Ganesha is lovingly performed by family members, relatives, and friends alike. Offerings comprising the delectable modak, succulent fruits, fragrant flowers, and various delectables are reverently presented to Lord Ganesha. Preparations for the Visarjan of Lord Ganesha's divine idol commence, culminating in a joyous procession to the designated immersion site, accompanied by jubilant celebrations, spirited dances, melodious music, and infectious excitement.

Before bidding adieu, blessings are earnestly sought by applying akshat and dahi on Lord Ganesha's divine hands. The image of Lord Ganesha is lovingly taken to every nook and cranny of the home, ushering in good fortune and divine grace. A vibrant red cloth is tenderly wrapped around Lord Ganesha's idol, adorned with coconut, jaggery, and grains placed within, signifying a sacred repast for Lord Ganesha on His homeward journey.

As the time approaches for the Ganapati Visarjan puja, a sprinkling of holy water sanctifies the devotee undertaking this sacred act. Just before departing for the Visarjan, a coconut is reverentially offered to Ganpati Bappa and subsequently broken in one swift motion, signifying the offering of the coconut along with Lord Ganesha into the waters.
