New Delhi: Gangster Suresh Pujari has been brought to India from the Philippines. A senior police officer confirmed this. Wanted gangster Suresh Pujari has been brought to India in several extortion cases in Mumbai and Karnataka in Maharashtra. According to the report, Suresh was wanted in several extortion cases in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar and Dombivali near Mumbai as well. The priest has been arrested late on the night of December 14 after being deported from the Philippines.
Intelligence officials and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials have taken him into custody after landing at New Delhi airport. Officials said, he will be handed over to Mumbai police after interrogation by central agencies. A team of crime branch of Mumbai Police is already in Delhi to take him into custody.
The Mumbai and Thane police had issued red notices against Suresh Pujari in 2017 and 2018 over several rangadari cases. Only Thane has 23 cases of recovery registered against Suresh. Officials have said that the priest had been absconding for more than 15 years and was arrested in the Philippines in October.
