AGARTALA: The Border Security Force has detained 3 suspects from West Tripura and captured 1,385 kilo of Ganja (marijuana) from their possession in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, the official said on March 26.
It said that a joint operation was carried out in the house of a suspected person of Urabari village in West Tripura after a specific intelligence input which was received in Sunday early hours indicating the stocking of a huge consignment of ganja. During the operation, 1 person was arrested, the official said.It further said that the marijuana was recovered acting on the tip and the BSF arrested three people.
"During the preliminary examination, he revealed the name of the major king-pin, a resident of West Tripura and other allies," the BSF official statement said. "A total worth Rs. 2,07,75,000 weighing 1,385 kilo of Ganja was recovered clandestinely hidden underground in their residences where all 3 Indian nationals, including the kingpin, were arrested," it added.
"BSF is fully committed to wiping out the menace of drugs from Tripura and making "Tripura - A Drug-sans State". They has been conducting a special drive against trans-border smugglers, particularly of narcotics and drugs and succeeded in neutralizing them at regular intervals independently and in close association with other sister agencies," the BSF said.
