During Brahmastra's promotion, a fan asked why are they not extensively promoting the film and why are they not everywhere. Alia replied, “humlog karenge, aise kuch nahi hai. But ya if you are asking why we are not failed everywhere? To this, Ranbir interrupted and said, “But I can see somebody else phailoed.” in reference to her pregnancy weight gain. However, the actor's comment sparked outrage among netizens and he was called 'insensitive'.  They started trolling him.

Now one of the popular actors, Gauhar Khan gave his reaction and wrote, "Aaj kal log kuch zyaada hi sensitive ho gaye hain. Ab apni biwi se kuch halka phulka mazaak karne pe bhi paabandi hai, kya pata kaun kahaan pe offend ho jaaye. Take a chill pill yaar, take light, it will resolve a lot of the issues in the world." Reacting to her tweet, a person commented, "We should make light on many things there are a lot of issues in the world, but specifically, you tweeted about Ranbir's low-class humorous comments on weight! But wait not you are the same person who judges BB contestants based on camera? Same!"

As soon as the Gauhar’s comment catches the eyes of people they started reacting to it. One wrote, "If husband, wife crack jokes at home... Nobody cares.... Public me aake (in public) making an absurd comment on a live session is called 'publicity stunt'. Small mistakes make a huge blunder."

Ranbir Kapoor earlier apologized for his comment and said, "Firstly, I love my wife with everything I have in my life. It's a joke that didn't turn out to be funny and I really want to apologize to anyone if I have triggered anyone. It wasn't my intention. So, I say sorry to anyone who got triggered or offended I spoke to Alia about it, and she laughed it off and she did not mind. I do have a bad sense of humour and that sometimes falls flat on my face sometimes. I am sorry if I have hurt anyone."
