Gauhati University invites proposals for State National Service Scheme Award

Gauhati : The Director of Students' Welfare,  Gauhati University & Programme Coordinator, of the varsity's National Service Scheme Cell, has invited proposals from the eligible National Service Scheme Programme Officers and National Service Scheme Volunteers under Gauhati University for the 'State National Service Scheme Award 2019-2020 & 2020-2021'. Sources informed that in this context, the Director has already intimated the Principals of all the affiliated colleges under Gauhati University.

The Director, Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati, in the office memo (G.U./NSS/State/Award/2021/4971, dated August 20, 2021) specifically mentioned that the interested candidates will have to fulfil the eligibility criteria in the respective sessions. The selection shall be done through multi-stage objective selection. According to the award rules, each of the mandated six selected NSS Programme Officer will be accorded Rs 15,000, a certificate and a memento. Similarly, each of the selected two volunteers will be presented Rs 10,000, a certificate and a memento.

The detailed guidelines and proforma for recommending National Service Scheme) , Gauhati University, State NSS Awardhe NSS Programme Officer and NSS Volunteer for the State-level NSS award has been already given by the Director, Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam. The last date for receiving such proposals (either by post or by hand) at the Office of the Director, Students' Welfare, GU & Programme Coordinator, GU NSS, is September 13, 2021. The Director's memo also mentioned that "each college can send only one proposal in each category for the award following the guidelines and application format as specified by Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare. The verification of information of the candidates would be done by the college authority concerned.
