New Delhi: India won the series 1-0 when the Rohit Sharma-led team drew the second test at Queen's Park Oval on Monday because the fifth and final day was rained out.

Despite India's series victory, Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian captain and legendary cricketer, questioned the logic behind picking either of senior hitters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Sunil Gavaskar has questioned the significance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's runs against the Windies, despite the fact that many cricket analysts and fans applauded their runs during the just finished Test series against the Windies.

The former Indian cricketer wants the selectors to reconsider their strategy and focus on the future rather than continuing to play Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Gavaskar also expressed his displeasure at young people supporting established personalities.

“The runs scored by Rohit and Kohli against this West Indies attack begs the question what did the selectors learn that they didn’t know already," he wrote.

“Wouldn’t it have been better to try out some youngsters and see how they take to Test cricket or is it that the selectors don’t want any sort of challenge from the younger lot to the established players," he added.

He challenged the election committee in the hopes that the group would undergo some reforms.

“Now that Ajit Agarkar has come on board as the Chairman of the selection committee let’s see if there is going to be any change in the approach to building a team for the future or if it’s going to be the same old story of the Indian team being the bridesmaid but not the bride," he further added.
