New Delhi: India's star women wrestlers Babita Phogat and Geeta Phogat's sister Ritika Phogat have been happy after losing the match in a wrestling tournament. Geeta Phogat, who has brought India the first gold medal in wrestling in the women's category at the Commonwealth Games, is deeply saddened by her move and said that defeat is an integral part of the player's life and no player should take such a step.

Geeta Phogat wrote on Twitter that, "God give peace to the soul of my little sister, my uncle's girl Ritika. My family is very sad to watch. Ritika was a very promising wrestler. I don't know why he took such a step. Defeat is part of the player's life. We should not take any such steps." Ritika, 17, had participated in the state level sub-junior tournament held at Lohagarh Stadium in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. In the final of the tournament, Ritika lost by one point and was disappointed with the defeat and hanged herself.

Ritu Phogat has also condoled Ritika's death. He wrote on Twitter that, "Give God peace to the soul of little sister Ritika. I still don't believe what happened to you. You will always remember us." Mahavir Phogat, who won the Dronacharya Award, was also present at the tournament. Ritika had prepared for the tournament long ago. But she was shocked to lose the final, and then on the night of March 15, she hanged herself with a scarf.
