GHMC has started road repair work in the wake of the rainfall damage

Heavy rains and thunder storms have been continuing in Hyderabad since last few weeks, leading to damaged roads in many areas, greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started road repair work, especially on internal roads and other major roads at a cost of Rs 52 crore. This is in addition to the work under the Comprehensive Road Management Programme (CRMP).

It should be noted that the Municipal Corporation has identified 315 extensions in an area of 99.51 km in six zones. All zonal commissioners were ordered to complete all repair work on or before November 15. Unlike previous years, this year's Municipal Corporation has undertaken extensive road recycling work in the summer, making good use of traffic-free roads during lockdown.

Due to heavy rains, many roads were damaged and severely damaged in different areas. Already, residents are complaining about bad roads in their colonies and motorists are shutting down different major roads. With complaints from various places, the Municipal Corporation has started road repair work by focusing on BT roads. A GHMC official said the zonal commissioners had been instructed to complete the road work by November 15, and work had to be stopped for some days in some areas due to rains.
