State elections are going to start in the state soon. While the parties are preparing and making full efforts to ensure success, choosing a safe method while voting is a great concern for the corona pandemic. It could be ballot paper or EVM. The BJP state unit has asked the state election commission to conduct the upcoming GHMC elections through electronic voting machines (EVMs) rather than through ballot papers. Responding to a letter written by the State Election Commission to all political parties to express their views on the issue, a BJP delegation on Tuesday met C Parthasarathy and submitted a memorandum explaining their views to the state Election Commissioner.

State BJP general secretary G. Primender Reddy came forward and explained that the common people would be comfortable voting through EVMs as the Covid epidemic caused a lot of fear in the society. "In fact, effective officials and various medical institutions are also advising, people's interaction, collection, should be avoided with enough physical distance," he said. He argued that voting by ballot papers or boxes would be faster and ensure minimum connection with unnecessary objects and people.

Evm voting is good for safety measures, as the voting stamp used in ballot type voting is conducted by different voters one after the other, while each voter has no time for cleanliness, or she takes longer to vote. "Therefore, the BJP has decided that the GHMC elections should be conducted only through EVMs," he said.
