In Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior city, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an older shopkeeper who tempted her with a chocolate, police said on Saturday. According to an officer, the incident occurred on Thursday night in the Madhoganj police station area.

According to Mahesh Sharma, in-charge of Madhoganj police station, the girl had ventured out of her house at 9 p.m. to buy a snack when the 65-year-old accused, who runs a business in the neighbourhood and was familiar with her, tempted her with a chocolate. According to him, the accused brought the child to a neighbouring godown, blindfolded her, and raped her. When the girl didn't return home for an extended period of time, her parents began a search and discovered her crying in the neighbourhood. She eventually told them about the attack, and a police report was filed, according to the official.

He stated that the accused was detained under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
