Ahmedabad: Missionaries of Charity, a Christian organization in GuJarat, has been accused of conversion. The institute was founded by Mother Teresa. An FIR has also been lodged over the conversion controversy. According to the complaint, efforts are being made to convert girls living in children's homes run by the institution to Christianity. Under the Gujarat Freedom of Religion Act, 2003, a case has been registered against the children's home in Vadodara city for allegedly hurting Hindu religious sentiments and wooing young girls for Christianity.

However, the institution has categorically denied the allegation. A FIR has been registered at Makarpura police station on Sunday on a complaint by district social security officer Mayank Trivedi. Mayank Trivedi had recently visited a girls' children's home run by missionaries of charity in Makarpura area along with the chairman of the child welfare committee of the district. During his visit, Trivedi found that girls in children's homes were being 'constrained' to read Christian religious texts and participate in Christian prayers with the intention of "taking them to Christianity," the FIR said.

According to the complaint, 'Between February 10, 2021 and December 9, 2021, the institution has been deliberately and bitterly involved in activities to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, girls are being lured into converting to Christianity with crosses around their necks, placing the Bible on the storeroom table used by girls, So that they can be forced to read the Bible.
