WASHINGTON: In a joint statement delivered on Thursday, the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom sternly criticized Iran's recent upsurge in highly enriched uranium production, as documented in a recent report.

The quartet of nations articulated in a synchronized statement their call for Iran to promptly reverse its recent actions and take substantial measures to de-escalate its nuclear program.

The report, compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), highlighted Iran's significant escalation in the production of uranium enriched up to 60% at Natanz and Fordow. This marked acceleration, replicating levels observed between January and June 2023, signifies a concerning regression in Iran's nuclear trajectory. The report underscored that this step could lead to a tripling of Iran's monthly production rate of uranium enriched up to 60%.

Within the joint statement, the participating nations emphasized the imperative for Iran to engage in full cooperation with the IAEA. This cooperation is essential not only to assure the international community of the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear pursuits but also to reinstate the inspectors suspended in September 2023.

"Our commitment to finding a diplomatic resolution remains unwavering, and we assert with determination that Iran must never attain nuclear weaponry," the statement further affirmed.

The collective appeal from these influential global powers highlights the urgency and gravity of the situation, signaling the necessity for Iran's compliance with international regulations and its responsibility to maintain peace and stability in the region.
