Goa: COVID curfew may extend beyond July 12, says CM Pramod Sawant

The Goa government on Friday mulls to extend the ongoing COVID-induced curfew till July 12, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Goa's Covid-related state-level curfew may not wind up just yet, We need to think about continuing with the state curfew for some more time. The current phase of the state-level curfew in Goa is scheduled to end on July 12. While extending the curfew on July 2, Sawant had allowed reopening of restaurants and bars as well as outdoor sports complexes.

In God the curfew had been first imposed on May 9, in wake of a surge of Covid-19 infections and deaths in the state. The curfew was later extended periodically on six occasions, since its imposition. Sawant also said that the government was thinking of providing more relaxation when the curfew is eventually extended after July 12.

India Corona Overview: India recorded 43,393 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours and 911 deaths, said the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Friday. Friday is the 31st consecutive day when India reported less than one lakh new covid cases.  The active cases have now come down below 5 lakh. The country has 4,58,727 active cases presently and has witnessed a total of 4,05,939 deaths so far.
