Panaji: The Goa government will conduct a beach cleanliness drive on September 17 in an effort to keep the beach safe and clean for visitors, officials announced on Thursday.

On International Coastal Clean Up Day, at 8 AM, the "Clean Coast, Safe Sea initiative" will get underway. The drive is held at several beaches in collaboration with the Goa Tourism Ministry, the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, and the Ministries of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change.

"Goa is a popular tourist destination known for its sun, sand, and sea, therefore it's crucial to keep the beaches tidy and secure for visitors. The programme is organised at Miramar, Calangute, Colva, and Canacona beaches to accomplish the goal and raise awareness about Clean Coast and Safe Sea "CM of Goa Pramod P Sawant tweeted. He made further appeals to the people to sign up for the initiative.

"I urge everyone to sign up for the initiative. The Clean Coast, Safe Sea programme is a good start in addition to the Seva Pakhwada, and we have decided to honour it on the occasion of the Hon. PM's birthday "he added.
