Panaji: With the increasing cases of coronavirus in Goa, people are resorting to God along with doctors to avoid the outbreak of this epidemic in the state. For this, special 'poojas' are being done in temples along with reciting 'Mahamrityunjaya' mantra. Corona virus cases have crossed 5,900 in the state.

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), the oldest regional political party in the state, has said that they have organized 'Mahamrityunjaya' mantra recitation in temples across Goa against the corona virus. MGP leader and party MLA Sudin Dhavalikar said that this mantra will be recited a lakh times in every temple in the state. He told that we have started this on Friday from the Vamaneshwar temple of Dhavali village under Ponda taluka in North Goa.

He further said, "According to one part of the Rig Veda, the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra has the power to remove all the negative energies around us. The corona is one such negative energy that has affected humans." In South Goa district, the people of Netravali village of Sanguem taluka are praying in the temple of local god 'Betal Satori'. Kushta Velip, the head priest of the temple, said that, "We believe that to get rid of Corona, divine power is needed."
