New Delhi: Gold and silver prices rose in the domestic market today. Gold rose 0.3 percent to a nearly two-week high of Rs 47,445 per 10 grams on MCX. Silver rose 0.3 percent to Rs 70,254 per kg. Gold had gained 0.11 percent in the previous trading session and silver fell 0.18 percent.

However, gold is still down about 9,000 rupees from last year's highest level (Rs 56,200 per 10 grams). Gold has touched nearly $1800 an ounce from the weak US dollar in international markets. Investors remained on alert before the minutes were released from the June meeting of the US Federal Reserve for greater clarity on monetary policy. Silver was down 0.1 per cent at $26.44 an ounce and platinum was up 0.5 per cent at $1,102.56 an ounce in other precious metals.

The dollar index plunged from a three-month high to 92.132 at the end of last week. According to a survey data, Euro zone businesses expanded activity at the fastest rate in 15 years in June amid a concession in corona virus restrictions, keeping global equity markets close to record highs.
