In the case of cars sales, the month of July proved to be the best for automobile companies. Sales of domestic passenger vehicles increased by more than 15 per cent in July, the highest in the last seven months. Sales of Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda and Toyota in July reached double digits as dealers in sales in June gained 11 per cent of  all.

The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has sold 153,298 cars in July, which is 22 per cent more than the previous year's July sales. However, SUV giant M & M's sales grew by 21 per cent and in July the company sold 20,962 units. Japanese car maker Toyota sold 17,758 cars in July and 43 percent more than last July.Honda's sales also jumped 22 percent to 17,085 cars in July. While sales of Tata Motors' passenger vehicles registered a growth of 10 percent.

It may be recalled that in July retail sales did not increase as people had bought vehicles in June to avail the discount. Now after July, the auto industry is unlikely to be bullish. In the past, Maruti Suzuki's Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) RS Kalsi had said in the past that June and July sales figures should be mixed together.
