The app has been spotted testing the direct messaging feature for the web version of the photo-sharing platform. It means users might be able to text through Instagram from a mobile browser or laptop soon. As of now, Instagram only allow desktop users to scroll through Instagram feed, it does not let them DM (direct message) people or post stories. And to upload photos or send text messages, users need to switch to the Instagram mobile app. Abut soon users may be able to least text people on the desktop.

While as far as posting stories are concerned, Instagram had previously said that they have “no plans to let users upload photos or stories from the desktop.”
