In reserved seats, the players will compete with their own category. Provision has been made for this in the new sports policy of Punjab Government.

According to media reports, Punjab used to go to other states to play in other states due to less prize money and lack of jobs than neighboring states. In order to stop the migration of sportspersons, on the occasion of National Sports Day last year, the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Rana Gurjit Singh Sodhi announced to double the prize money given to medal-winning sportspersons and provide 3% reservation for them in all departments.

According to Rana Sodhi on this matter, the players have been given increased prize money last year. While now 3% jobs will be reserved in every department of the state government for the players who won medals at the national and international level from the next financial year. They used to compete with strong candidates at the academic level, this will not happen now. For the government job, the players will compete with their own category.
