New Delhi: The black warrant to hang the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case is on 1 February. But a convict Vinay has sent a mercy petition to the President, after which speculations are being made that the date of hanging may extend even further. But as per the schedule, the preparations have been completed to hang the culprits.

Pawan executioner of Meerut has reached Tihar Jail. He has also made a dummy practice of hanging the culprits on the noose on Friday. According to sources, if the date of execution goes ahead, Pawan will continue to practice hanging dummies of all the four criminals while staying in Tihar. The purpose of the dummy hanging practice is to assess the strength of the rope and practice the whole process of hanging.

Pawan executioner has not hanged anyone to date, but his father and grandfather are ancestral executioners. On the same day the court issued a black warrant for hanging, on February 1, Tihar had written a letter to the UP government to hang Pawan executioner on January 30.
