A detailed report has been filed by the Environment Pollution Control and Conservation Authority (EPCA) in the High Court. The EPCA has recommended a No Objection Certificate for CNG and petrol vehicles for nine years instead of five. CNG is a clean fuel and that is why it can be allowed to run longer than diesel, the report said. At present, the Transport Department gives a five-year NOC to All India Tourist Permit vehicles. This rule applies to all three types of diesel, CNG and petrol vehicles. The rule has been in force since the High Court had directed in May 2016. Let us know the full details
If taxi drivers agree in this case, CNG is becoming a loss-making proposition. After five years, taxi drivers have to sell CNG taxis at a much lower price. Taxi operators have been consistently raising the issue, after which it was reported to the High Court. The EPCA says CNG and petrol vehicles should be granted permits for nine years due to clean fuel.
