Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in UP, the country's largest state, has given a big relief to Muslim devotees going for Haj from the state. The State Government has abolished the age restriction for Haj pilgrimage from 2022 and thereafter, persons above the age of 70 years will also be able to perform Haj. In fact, haj pilgrimage was banned for people below 18 years of age and above 65 years due to corona and now that the situation has improved, the State Government has taken this decision.

According to reports, air travel for Haj pilgrimage this year will be from Lucknow and New Delhi. While air travel from Varanasi will not be operated. Haj Secretary Rahul Gupta said that haj pilgrims who have crossed the age of 70 years this year will travel under reserved category and such pilgrims will be required to be accompanied by fellow pilgrims below 70 years of age. He said the flight from Varanasi is currently closed and due to this the yatra will start from Lucknow and Delhi. He said that as soon as the data of applications is received, it will be considered to start a flight from Varanasi. But it has not yet been considered and flights will go from only two places. He said that from this year on haj pilgrimage, it is necessary to take both doses of one pre-maha corona vaccine and which will not follow this rule. He will not get the travel clearance.

At present, it is being termed as a major decision of the Yogi government before the upcoming assembly elections in the state. Because this time the BJP is also eyeing the minority and Muslim votes of the state. However, the Yogi Government in the state is running several schemes for Muslims and the Muslim category is also benefiting from it.
