Google is adding small, perfect, but handy features to Google Maps. Recently, the company has come up with 3 new features, including the SOS alerts, on-screen speedometer, which also includes LIVE train status. This makes it clear that Google Maps wants to be more than just an app that provides navigation services. The new feature has been testing Google in India. This is how your taxi ride can do.

Under the new feature, if your taxi catches a different route from the common-root, you'll get an instant alert. Google Maps will alert you after 500 meters if you don't go through the common-root of your taxi. This feature will also work when you're driving yourself. This will ensure that you are not holding the wrong path. This feature of Google Maps was the first to spot by XDA developers and the feature will be available only in India at the moment. This new feature is of immense use to make sure that your driver is not taking you to go off-route.

Then tap the Stay Safer button at the bottom of the screen. Two options come under the Stay Safer feature. It can share a live trip with your friends and get off-route alerts.
