New Delhi:- Google's recently announced foldable Pixel Fold launched today in select markets. However, buyers may have some concerns, as one of the early adopters of the device claims that it broke down after just four days of use. Most buyers who pre-ordered this foldable device just got their hands on Google's first foldable device today, so few issues have been reported so far, so this is a one-time issue. It's hard to tell if it's a problem, or if it's a widespread problem.
The Pixel Fold in question is owned by Arstechnica's Ron Amadeo, who said the phone's watertight design makes it easy to damage the display when dust particles and dirt get trapped between the two halves.

This user claims that he didn't even put the Pixel Fold into its normal usage cycle of several months, leaving it mostly on his desk and barely used. During this short test period, the foldable device did not fall once, so there was no accidental damage. He noticed random damage to the foldable display inside the phone after his first 10 rows of pixels at the bottom of the display disappeared. The bottom half of the display quickly became unresponsive to touch, then spread across the rest of the display.
According to his findings, this is due to the flat-folding design with the Google Pixel Fold's inner display almost perfectly aligned and edge aligned. So if dust gets trapped between the two halves of the inner protective plastic layer, it literally has nowhere to go due to the minimal tolerances between the two halves. In this case, it's a flexible protective layer made of ultra-thin glass (UTG) that keeps the display from getting dented or scratched when pinched.
In Amadeo's case, the culprit could be the sensitive area of his Pixel Fold's display between his UTG cover and bezel. This area is often exposed and attracts a lot of dust on foldable devices of all shapes and sizes. The user's phone had a small dent near the area where the display was having issues.
He said this could be because trapped dust particles could have made their way into the underlying display when the display was closed. In his Pixel Fold review for The Verge, he also noted that the foldable display inside the device was prone to scratches. The same reviewer said a colleague's inner display bezel also broke.
