In a monthly transparency report released by Google on Friday, it removed 71,132 content in May and 83,613 content in June following a complaint from users. In addition to users' complaints, Google has removed 6,34,357 content in May and 5,26,866 content in June from the automatic process. That means Google has removed a total of 13,15,968 content in two months.
The US-based company reported this as part of compliance with India's IT policy, which came into effect on May 26. Google reported in its first report that it received more than 27,700 complaints from private users in India in April this year over alleged violations of local laws or private rights, resulting in the removal of 59,350 content.
At the same time, Google said in a May report that it received 34,883 complaints from personal users and based on this action was taken against 71,132 content. The report stated that these complaints are related to third-party content, which is said to violate local laws or private rights on Google's SSMI (notable social media intermediary) platform. The same complaints were most related to copyright (70,365). In addition, complaints of several categories including defamation (753), cheating (5), other legal violations (4), fraud (3), and sexual content (2) were processed.
