Cropin Technology Solutions, an Artificial Intelligence-startup backed by Google, has launched a real-time intelligence solution to predict future yields for 13 essential crops. This innovation leverages artificial intelligence to tackle challenges in the farming industry.
Based in Bangalore, Cropin introduced Sage, a platform powered by Google's Gemini AI model. Sage transforms the global agricultural landscape into a proprietary grid-based map, providing precise predictive intelligence using historical data. This allows decision-makers to ask questions about crop performance and life cycles in their native language, offering insights on productivity, climate, farming practices, and soil for 13 crops that make up 80% of the world's food supply.
"Predicting the future of crops is a significant advancement, and it can prevent industry disruptions caused by shortages of crops like cocoa or oranges," said Krishna Kumar, founder and CEO of Cropin.
As the global population grows and food security becomes a pressing issue, generative AI and large language models are poised to revolutionize modern agriculture. These technologies can assist a wide range of clients, including consumer goods companies, seed manufacturers, financial institutions, and governments, in planning crop production and making informed cultivation decisions.
Cropin's technology combines generative AI with four decades of climate data, earth data, and knowledge graphs. This enables the prediction of crop behavior country-by-country for the current season, next year, and even up to five years into the future.
