In Uphaar cinema fire tragedy yesterday Gopal Ansal surrendered before Tihar jail authorities to complete his one-year jail term. The plea by him to have more time in surrendering was rejected by the bench of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justices D Y Chandrachud and S K Kaul.

The jail official as per the sources news said "Ansal surrendered around 5-5.30 PM. He is currently lodged in the hospital at Jail No. 3 as he complained of some health issues," 

In 1997 fire broke out in Uphaar Cinema during the screening of a film in which many people lost their life and other suffered injuries.
