BHUBANESWAR: On the first day of the Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) 2021 in the temple city of Bhubaneswar, Sudha Murthy, wife of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, business journalist Tamal Bandopadhyay, and Bollywood actress Divya Dutta were among those who got honours for their works.

The festival was inagurated by Odisha Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi. The opening event was attended by Nepal's Charge d'affaires Ram Prasad Subedi, Padma Vibhushan Sitakanta Mohapatra, and Padma Bhusan Ramakanta Rath.

KLF has established itself as one of India's most important literary platforms, attracting both seasoned and new writers. The eighth edition of the festival, which will be bigger than ever before, will bring together nationally and internationally famous names to discuss, debate, and discover commonalities in varied voices in literature, according to Rashmi Ranjan Parida, the festival's founder and director. On the occasion of the KLF's seventh edition, the organisers presented 30 awards to prominent authors and translators of note.

The Kalinga Literary Award went to Padmashree Srinivas Udgata, and the Kalinga Literary International Award went to Arun Kamal.
