Govt cracks down on fake news, takes action against 6 YouTube channels

New Delhi: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India has taken action against six YouTube channels spreading fake news. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact check had revealed that fake news was being spread through these YouTube channels. These six channels had more than 20 lakh subscribers. PIB Fact Check exposed the fake news being spread by these channels. These 6 channels had 2 million i.e. more than 20 lakh subscribers. Apart from this, their videos have received more than 50 crore views. The names of these channels are- Nation TV, Sarokar Bharat, Nation 24, Samvad Samachar, Swarnim Bharat, and Sambad TV. 

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India took action against these YouTube channels running fake news. Busted channels are part of the Fake News Economy. It was pointed out by PIB that these YouTube channels use fake, clickbait, and sensationalized thumbnails and images of television news anchors of television channels to mislead the viewers. 

PIB exposed many fake news on the youtube channel 'Nation 24'. This channel had more than 25 thousand subscribers and its videos were viewed more than 44 lakh times. This channel spread many fake news regarding President, Prime Minister, Supreme Court, and Election Commission. A YouTube channel running by the name 'Samvaad TV' had more than 1 million subscribers. Fake news about the Government of India and Union Ministers was being spread through this channel. PIB has fact-checked its videos. PIB Fact Check has found that a YouTube channel named 'Samvaad Samachar' is distorting the statements of the Chief Justice of India and the President and boosting the fake news economy.
