Ahmedabad: In a bid to prevent stray cattle on public roads in the state, the Gujarat government has decided to sterilize over 50,000 bulls. On Wednesday, Cabinet Minister Hrishikesh Patel took this decision in the Cabinet meeting of the Gujarat government.

Rishikesh Patel said that this decision has been taken to free citizens from the menace of stray animals. This special campaign will be done in 8 metros and 156 municipalities of the state, where more than 50 thousand bulls will be sterilized. Minister Rishikesh Patel also informed that more than 105 cattle ponds are running in many areas of Gujarat to take care of bulls.

Minister Rishikesh Patel said that the state government is taking several steps to free the citizens of the state from the suffering of stray animals. At the same time, a special campaign will be launched to remove stray bulls from urban and rural areas. The minister said that under this campaign, in addition to 8 municipal corporations and 156 municipalities of the state, about 50 thousand stray bulls above one year of age will be sterilized. Arrangements will also be made for the maintenance and care of animals for a week after sterilization. This special campaign will be run by a team of experts. The team will consist of veterinarians, animal husbandry department officials, livestock inspectors, and operators. After sterilization, tags will also be placed in the ears of bulls to keep an eye on them. After a week of sterilization, the bulls will be sent to institutions aided by the CM Gaumata Poshan Yojana.
