At the Raj Bhawan here on Thursday, Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju met with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra to discuss development projects in the state, including the Greenfield airport at Hollongi, the start of the State University at Pasighat, and the appointment of key academic and administrative post holders.
In November of last year, the Governor paid a visit to the Hollongi Airport construction site and shared his observations with the Union Minister. He emphasised that, in addition to the runway's core construction, additional buildings and services such as an air traffic control tower and a security organisation must be built at the same time.
Mishra stated that personnel selection, including female police officers and personnel, airport security staff training, and the installation and operation of security equipment, as well as their billeting, must all be completed as soon as possible. The State Government, he added, is keeping a careful eye on the runway's progress, as well as security, electricity, and water supply.
The Governor encouraged Rijiju to use his good offices to hasten the airport's commissioning. The meeting also included State Director General of Police RP Upadhyaya and Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil Naik.
