Govinda, the actor who ruled Bollywood in the 80s and 90s with his versatile performances, had a dark phase in his career where he became a victim of superstition. According to his close friend and filmmaker, Pahlaj Nihalani, Govinda's superstition led to his downfall in the industry.

Nihalani, who has worked with Govinda on several films, praised the actor's talent and dedication to his family but also revealed how his superstition affected his career. "He was doing films, spending time with his family, but gradually became superstitious. He would say things like 'the chandelier will fall, everyone leave the set.' He even started predicting things like 'Kader Khan will sink,'" Nihalani said.

Nihalani also revealed that Govinda's superstition led him to change the colors of his clothes and would often refuse to do certain things on certain days. "These things, combined with his laziness and innocence, led to his downfall," Nihalani added.

Despite their close friendship, Nihalani clarified that their connection was limited to their work in films. "We worked together on many films, but our relationship was limited to that. He would sign B-grade and C-grade films without thinking, and no one knew what he was doing. He would work on 5-6 films simultaneously and was always late, even lying at times," Nihalani said.

Govinda's superstition phase was a surprising turn in his career, given his success in films like "Coolie No. 1", "Hero No. 1", and "Beti No. 1". However, his friend's revelations shed light on the struggles he faced during that time. Despite his superstition, Govinda remains an iconic figure in Bollywood, and his talent and dedication to his craft continue to inspire fans.
