New Delhi: The government is likely to reduce the quota for private hospitals by 25 per cent soon in view of the slow pace of corona vaccination on private sites. The Central Government has also started using 7 to 9 per cent doses of the vaccine not used by private hospitals in government immunization centres. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya himself has informed the Rajya Sabha.

The obligation for vaccine producing companies to reserve 25% vaccine for private hospitals in the near future may be removed. The decision is likely to be taken keeping in view the slow pace of vaccination at private sites in the last two to three months. In fact, BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday questioned the government over reducing the vaccine quota for private hospitals. On this, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that there is no need to reduce it as the Central Government is already using the vaccine not used by private hospitals at government centres.
