HYDERABAD: The state government has issued directives to pay Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees and retirees, which had been waiting since January 1, 2020. At any given time, the government has sanctioned three pending DAs.

The three DAs are due on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021, respectively. The government has issued orders for the payment of DAs beginning July 1, 2021.

From July 1, 2021, the DA was increased from 7.28 percent to 17.29 percent with a monetary benefit, resulting in a 10.01 percent rise in DA for employees and retirees. The government will credit employees' and pensioners' GPF accounts with the DA arrears.

From April 2021, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao extended new PRC pay scales to employees and pensioners, with a 30 percent fitment (base pay boost) compared to the 7.5 percent fitment suggested by the PRC commission headed by CR Biswal in January 2021. Employees' retirement age was also raised from 58 to 61 years by the Chief Minister.
