New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) insurance policy, which was introduced on March 30, 2020, granted insurance claims totaling Rs 808 crore to the families of at least 1,616 deceased healthcare workers who were involved in fighting the Covid-19 outbreak.
The scheme provides Rs 50 lakh in comprehensive personal accident insurance to 22.12 million healthcare providers, including community and private health workers, who may have come into direct touch.

In response to a follow-up inquiry, Mandaviya praised all doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers for their outstanding performance during the pandemic's first, second, and third waves.
