Government teachers in Madhya Pradesh pushed into ‘Hamara Ghar Hamara Vidyalya’ feeling that it is better to open government schools. The school education department initiated a programme namely ‘Hamara Ghar Hamara Vidyalya’ to provide to students who lack internet access. The teachers were asked to visit homes where students deprived of internet facility.
The scheme gradually turned into mohalla schools as most of the students from government schools do not have access to online classes. Teachers were asked to visit the student's house and provide remedial classes. In due course, teachers started calling students to a particular place and started taking classes under an open tree or in front of somebody’s house.
However, after more than 50 teachers reportedly succumbed to corona virus, teachers have started expressing their apprehensions. A section of teachers expressed that not only teachers but students are also exposed to the deadly virus during classes taken near their homes. However, in a common opinion of teachers in many states of India, it is better to open schools and call the students to schools taking all protective measures than to provide them education in an unsafe environment, said a teacher.
At the same time, the parents have been much worried about not being able to deal with their children’s academics progress.. In addition, many parents are stressed as they have lost their jobs and run their lives out of limited savings or by borrowing money, in the midst of crisis.
