Supreme Court orders government to provide ration at cheap rates to sex workers

New Delhi: The central government has agreed that the sex workers in the states should be provided ration at a lower price. Hearing a public interest litigation in this case, the Supreme Court has said that all states and union territories should provide dry ration to all sex workers.

The Supreme Court said that the state government and Union Territory should provide drought rations to all the sex workers identified by the National AIDS Control Organization and the institutions of the district. The court has also said that government agencies should not pressurize them to show ration cards while giving ration. Hearing the problem of sex workers who have reached the verge of starvation due to corona infection, the court has asked all states and union territories to file affidavit in 4 weeks to state that in these 4 weeks states.

The central government has agreed to provide dry ration to sex workers. The Supreme Court has also asked the Central Government that the same way it can provide financial help to sex workers on the same lines as it has provided financial assistance of Rs 1500 to transgenders.
