New Delhi: Union textile minister Piyush Goyal is attending a Chintan Shivir, a brainstorming session on technical textiles, during the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam on Friday, 21 April in Rajkot, Gujarat.
The session, which is a part of the National Technical Textiles Mission's flagship initiative, intends to examine growth prospects in the home tech and clothes industries. With over50 significant industry participants, it is jointly organised by the Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) and Indian Technical Textiles Association (ITTA).
To discuss the sector's future expansion and development, the conference will bring together industry leaders, manufacturers, researchers, and representatives from the federal and state governments. Participants will evaluate export and investment potential in the home and clothing technology sectors, participate in expert discussions, and ask leaders in the sector questions.
Goyal will also preside over the sixth meeting of the Textile Advisory Group on Cotton (TAG-C), which includes representatives from all points along the cotton value chain, and the second meeting of the Textile Advisory Group on man-made fibres.
The minister will also speak at a session on sustainability and circularity in textiles, concentrating on the sector's long-term strategy. With numerous entrepreneurs experimenting with resource-saving and environmentally friendly technologies and practises, India is becoming ready to meet the rising domestic and international demand for sustainable and circular products.
Gujarat and Tamil Nadu's textile clusters are paving the way for sustainability by using resource-efficient production techniques like zero liquid discharge, fiber-to-fibre recycling, and the use of substitute organic dyes and chemicals. In accordance with ESG principles, they are also switching to renewable energy sources and fostering employee wellbeing through enhanced working conditions and perks.
During his visit, the minister will tour the Handicraft and Handloom Expo in Somnath, which is being held as part of the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam.
