New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday (November 12) unanimously re-elected Greg Barclay as president. Barclay has been re-elected as independent chairman for a second two-year term. Barclay was elected unopposed as ICC chief after Tawengwa Mukuhalani withdrew. Greg Barclay is a commercial lawyer in Auckland. Barclay was appointed as ICC president in November 2020.

Greg Barclay was previously the head of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), as well as director of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2015. In an official press release, Greg Barclay said on his re-appointment, "It is an honour to be re-elected as president of the International Cricket Council and I would like to thank my fellow ICC directors for their support.'' Barclay added "Over the past two years, we have made significant progress with the launch of our International Development Strategy, which provides a clear direction to create a successful and sustainable future for our sport. I want to continue working with our Members.''

Barclay further said that cricket can be strengthened as well as taken forward, ensuring that more and more people around the world can enjoy cricket. I want to work together on this. Mukuhlani said, 'I congratulate Greg on becoming the ICC President. The game has the best interests of the game under Greg's leadership, so I have decided to withdraw my name.'
