New Delhi, The government has listed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha Wednesday.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, which has been in the making for over a decade, entails introduction of a single indirect tax regime across the country.
Parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar said, "The GST Bill is listed for consideration and passage on Wednesday in Rajya Sabha and we seek support of all political parties. The mood is in favour of its passage".
According to Sources, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley held talks with Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress deputy leader Anand Sharma Monday.
He is likely to meet them again Tuesday. Jaitley also met with CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, besides some other leaders.
Later, Jaitley and Kumar met with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
A whip has been issued by BJP to its members to remain present in the House during the next three days.
